Make health care reform a reality
The time to call our Senators and Representatives on health care reform is NOW!
The Senate will vote before the end of the year on a health care reform bill. They will then conference that bill with the House version. It's been a long process, and although it's not everything we want, at the VERY least this bill will:
-cover 31 million more people
-reform the insurance industry by eliminating pre-existing conditions, gender discrimination, and making the insurance companies pay at least 90% of the money they bring in towards health care
-expand Medicaid
-close the donut hole in Medicare Part D
-offer strong and free preventive care
-give tax cuts to small businesses
-increase affordability and offer subsidies for those who can't afford insurance
It is FAR from everything we want, but we feel we can strengthen it in the House conference process and then we have a much better baseline to work from next time around.
