Donation by mail

Donate a vehicle

Virginia Organizing is always looking for reliable vehicles for our organizers as they work in communities across the state.  To donate a vehicle, please contact Sally at bastian@virginia-organizing.org.

Matching gifts double your dollars

80% of the nation’s largest businesses offer to match the gifts workers make to non-profit groups. If your employer matches gifts, you can double your impact on Virginia Organizing’s work for social justice and the environment. Please ask your personnel office for more information and a matching gift form.

Gifts of Stock can be a smart tax decision

Many donors prefer to make gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or exchange
traded funds. Some of our most committed donors find they are able to give more generously
when they donate appreciated assets than if they’d simply given cash. And if you are itemizing deductions on your tax return, you may be eligible for a charitable deduction of the full value of your gift. Whether or not you are itemizing deductions, though, donating an appreciated asset can help you avoid paying tax on capital gains.

Contact Sally Bastian for more information at bastian@virginia-organizing.org.

Make a gift from your IRA account

Do you have a traditional IRA? If you do, and you are 70.5 or older, you are eligible to make a
tax-free gift to Virginia Organizing directly from your IRA.

Contact Sally Bastian for more information at bastian@virginia-organizing.org.

Leave a legacy for justice

One of the most powerful ways to support communities against injustice for years to come is through a gift in your will. Thanks to some friends of Virginia Organizing, you can make a will for free in less than 25 minutes (or get started in the process, then find a lawyer near you.)

Leave a planned gift by writing your will today. For more information, contact Sunny Hawkins at shawkins@virginia-organizing.org.

Have you already made a gift to Virginia Organizing in your will? Please let us know so we can say thank you and keep our records up-to-date.

Non-Probate Assets

You must plan your beneficiaries for non-probate assets such as an IRA, 401(k), or life-insurance separately since they are not covered in your will. You can designate Virginia Organizing as a beneficiary of these types of assets also.

Combined Virginia Campaign for Virginia State employees

Virginia state employees can support Virginia Organizing through the Combined Virginia Campaign. When your employer gives out the CVC cards, Virginia Organizing’s code is 200029. Please choose Virginia Organizing for a one-time donation or payroll deduction. For more information, ask your personnel office how to participate, or give us a call.

Giving while buying groceries at Kroger

It does not cost you anything to help Virginia Organizing while you shop for groceries at Kroger. Here’s how it works:

Visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com and sign in or create an account. Every time you shop, use your Kroger Plus Card and Virginia Organizing will receive a donation from your shopping trips! You can continue to use electronic, store, and manufacturer’s coupons for discounts on your groceries.

It doesn’t matter how you pay, as long as you use your Plus Card, Virginia Organizing benefits.

For questions about the Kroger Community Rewards program, contact Sally at bastian@virginia-organizing.org.

Make a donation using Paypal.

DAF Direct

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably-inclined individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock, and in some case, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. Click here to donate to Virginia Organizing through DAF Direct.

Virginia Organizing is registered with the Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services, P.O. Box 1163, Richmond, VA 23209, where you can write for relevant financial statements.
