Matching gifts double your dollars

80% of the nation's largest businesses offer to match the gifts workers make to non-profit groups. If your employer matches gifts, you can double your impact on VOP's work for social justice and the environment. Please ask your personnel office for more information and a matching gift form.

Gifts of stock or real estate can be a smart tax decision

A gift of stock, real estate or other appreciated assets can provide tax benefits. By giving a gift of stock to VOP before converting it to cash, you can avoid capital gains tax on its increase in value since purchase. Your charitable deduction will be equal to the full market value of the stock.

Whether your assets are substantial or modest, you can make a difference by investing in VOP with your gift of stock. Please consult your advisor for legal and tax advice.

Leave a legacy for justice

When making your estate plans, please remember the Virginia Organizing Project by choosing one of these ways to make a gift through your will:

"I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Virginia Organizing Project, a non-profit corporation of the Commonwealth of Virginia, located at 703 Concord Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22903 USA:

Another way to leave a legacy is through a charitable trust, which can provide a life income for you as well as tax advantages.

Giving while buying groceries at Kroger

It doesn’t cost you anything to help VOP while you shop for groceries. Here’s how it works:

Use a Kroger gift card that has been coded to an account for the Virginia Organizing Project. When you use it to buy your groceries VOP receives 5% of the sales.

Reload the card when needed at the customer service desk, paying any way you like: credit card, cash or check. Use the card at the checkout to pay for your purchases. Your receipt will show the balance on your card so you’ll know when it’s time to reload it. You can still use the Kroger Plus card to get discounts.

Combined Virginia Campaign for Virginia State employees

Virginia state employees can support VOP through the Combined Virginia Campaign. When your employer gives out the CVC cards, VOP's code is 3168. Please choose VOP for a one-time donation or payroll deduction. For more information, ask your personnel office how to participate, or give us a call.
